Someone (was it William Wordsworth?) once described the Lake District as The Most Beautiful Corner of England...

...and I have to agree. It's the place where I was brought up and it's the place I go back to, time and again.

On these pages you'll find details of 'A Place in the Lakes', a great riverside apartment in the Lake District National Park. The apartment has one bedroom, is on the  ground floor and has two outside spaces, so it's perfect for two people to relax & unwind.

Here you'll also find pages listing the best things to see and do, along with some of my favourite places to eat and drink in the area (I've done the research for you!). So have a browse and drop me a line if you'd like to stay.

LOCATION

LOCATION

The hamlet of Backbarrow is at the southern tip of Windermere, so there's a huge range of possibilities, right on your doorstep.

From the picture-postcard villages of Ambleside, Windermere, Coniston, Hawkshead and Grasmere to the north; and Cartmel, Ulverston and the sands of Morecambe Bay to the south, there's lots to see and do.

PLACE

THE APARTMENT

Built six years ago, the 500 square foot apartment mixes traditional Lake District looks on the outside with modern comforts inside. It overlooks the river Leven and is on a private road with no through-traffic, so the area is very quiet too.

The living room

The apartment is on the ground floor, is double-aspect and has new furnishings & equipment throughout.

The living room has a sofa, armchair, radio, basic free-to-air TV (Freeview)  and high speed wifi.

Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors lead to your own east-facing outdoor space with views of the river below.

The bathroom

The bathroom has a rain shower with slate tiling, basin, towels, soaps and a mirrored cabinet.

The kitchen

The kitchen is fully equipped with an induction hob & oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

The bar-style table doubles as a place to eat and a work station, with two stools and power sockets.

The kitchen is full of natural light and leads out onto its own west-facing outdoor space.

Outside

There are two outside spaces: one off the kitchen and one off the living room, overlooking the river.

The bedroom

The bedroom has a new double bed, mattress, duvet, linens, bedside lighting and cabinets.

The two built-in wardrobes have plenty of shelves and hangers so there's lots of storage space.

The Ironworks Building is in a very quiet area and all the windows are double glazed, so you'll sleep well!

Parking

There's free onsite parking in your own numbered space, so you'll always be able to park.

You'll find the full list of amenities and equipment along with the answers to some FAQs on the 'Your Stay' page...

...and there's a short video of the apartment on YouTube, here.
